What is it?

The Respiratory frequency is the number of breathing cycles per minute. A cycle is one inhalation followed by an exhalation. 

The human respiratory rhythm fluctuates during growth and decreases over time. It can then be modified according to the individual's activity or stress, for example.

For an healthy adult, the ventilation tidal volume (VT), meaning the volume of air that enters and leaves during a regular breathing, is around 400 to 500 ml.
