3 butterfly drills for better technique

This is the last article in our series devoted to swimming drills. After breaststroke, crawl and backstroke, today we're going to look at butterfly drills. Here again, there are many different ways to improve your stroke.

One arm butterfly

Goal : Work on leg-arm coordination and breathing.

Execution : Swim butterfly using only one arm to perform the stroke, while the other arm is stretched out in front. Change arms every 25 meters. Focus on fluidity of movement and synchronization of leg kick.

 

Dolphin kicks with arms alongside the body

Goal : Improve leg kicking technique and strengthen the core.

Execution Lieon your stomach, keeping your arms at your sides. Do undulation like a dolphin, concentrating on engaging your hips to generate propulsion. Keep your body aligned with a smooth, even undulation.

3 strokes butterfly

Goal : Work on coordinating leg and arm movements.

Execution : For each full arm stroke, perform two powerful leg kicks. This drill allows you to better feel the perfect moment to give the leg impulse to facilitate your arms movement and keep the body at the water's surface.
